Scrubbers to clean exhaust gases have been fitted on Cunard Line’s Queen Victoria during a recent dry docking at Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven.
“ That came after the original contract was extended to include the additional installation of a new type of exhaust gas cleaning plant or scrubber. It was the first such installation ever carried out by Lloyd Werft on a cruise ship,” the shipyard said in a statement. Queen Victoria was built in 2007.
Scrubbers are an option for owners to meet new, stringent emission control rules that will take effect e.g. in the English Channel, the North Sea and Baltic in 2015.
