AIDA Cruises names newbuilding number eight AIDASol

AIDA Cruises has named its latest newbuilding AIDASol the company says, adding that the 71,000 gross ton vessel is due to enter service early in 2011 after delivery from the Meyer Werft in Germany.
AIDASol is the fifth unit in the current series of newbuildings for the Rostock based company that is part of Carnival Corp & PLC member Costa Crociere. Segments to the nerw ship have been built at the Neptun Shipyard in Rostock, from where they hve been taken to Mayer Werft in Papenburg. A logistic centre for AIDA’s newbuilding programme is based in Hamburg.
The construction of AIDASol sustains a total of 5,500 jobs at the shipyard and with various sub contractors and suppliers
