Orient Lines, the destinational cruise line that has been dormant for some time, has acquired the 1969 built Maxim Gorkiy of 25,000 gross tons. The ship has turbo-electric machinery and it is one of the few steam driven vessels still in operation.
The ship has last been in serrvice with Phoneix Seereisen, the German operator. Orient Lines itself was sold by the NCL Corporation some time ago to private investors who have set up offices in Florida. While part of NCL Corpooration, Orient Lines used to operate the 1965 built 22,000 gross ton Marco Polo that is now in the fleet of Transocean Tours, a German company.
